Groundwork has 25 years of experience of designing and implementing environmental and sustainably informed projects for the schools, colleges and in particular creating bespoke sessions/projects for child/youth services.
The Grounds at the Eco Centre offer a secure and ideal setting for schools to visit and participate in a range of educational activities such as:-
· Habitat studies - mini-beast hunts Tree identification, flora and fauna identification.
· Environmental arts and crafts
· Greenwood crafts
· Horticultural activities
· Forest school activities
· Woodland trail
· Navigation and map reading
· Teacher training
New for autumn 2012! – we anticipate that by the autumn the new Eco Building will be open for schools and groups to use along with a new wildlife garden and pond.To complement our centre’s work we offer an external service where we can bring the activities to your school or site, offering a range of services to support learning, these include:-
· Professional Landscape, design and sketch schemes to help visualize any new learning sites
· Costed project planning
· Project implementation and contract management
· Pupil led design sessions
· Trainer led sessions with groups to build new facilities eg outdoor classrooms, garden areas, poly tunnels, plastic bottle greenhouses, ponds and much more.
· Environmental reviews and audits for schools through the trusts Green Plan Environmental Management System. (can be linked to classroom sessions on sustainability and the environment)
Our services for schools extends beyond the early years and teacher training, we offer something for all levels of the curriculum right through to vocational training and work placement. The Fedw Hir Eco Training Centre provides a secure location for older pupils and students to train and gain vocational qualifications and work experience to OCN accreditation if requested.
